WATCH FOR ME
WALKING

The classic advice - look both ways before crossing the street - still serves us best! But when it comes to staying safe as a pedestrian – whether walking, running, in a wheelchair, or pushing a stroller – it’s all about being aware of your surroundings.

LAWS

  • Pedestrians have the right of way over cars on streets when crossing at intersections, and they must obey traffic signals and signs at those intersections.

  • If there’s no crosswalk, pedestrians should only cross a street at a right angle to the curb. It’s illegal to cross the street or an intersection diagonally.

  • Avoid walking or running on roadways with heavy traffic. If sidewalks are not available, take caution and walk facing traffic.
